Is your lifestyle getting in the way of receiving Jesus’ living water found in John 4?
Arguing or striving against what others believe takes the focus off yourself and your own beliefs. That is operating under a false paradigm. Something greater is happening. Jesus comes to remove our blind spots. The log in our own eyes (Matthew 7:3-5). The Samaritan woman in John 4:5-30 encountered Jesus in a powerful way that changed her. What we see from this and other biblical texts is that no matter who or where you are, Jesus has the power to transform and bring us truth. Jesus’ mission is to encounter people where they are and bring the good news of his eternal living water so that we never “thirst again” (John 4:13)… We aren’t required to have a particular lifestyle to encounter Jesus, yet he will challenge our lives. Knowing Jesus makes a difference when we follow him. If your life isn’t changing, you may want to check who you are following most. Jesus challenges our false paradigms and lifestyles because those can get in our way of receiving his love and grace. Our part? Surrender to him as King. In charge of our lives. Trust and receive from the one who loves us most. When we say “yes” to Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross, we are now justified by God through the redeemed lens of his grace. Forever sealed by his Holy Spirit. Of course we are all on the journey of “progressive sanctification” (being transformed into all God created us to be) if we choose to trust and receive… if we don’t, we’re simply trying to be a better person. And a better person is not a redeemed person being sanctified through God’s grace.
