I went to the hospital (Marshall) yesterday to test the waters.  In November, I stopped going in to round on patients when booster shots became mandatory and the Covid caseload began to soar.  In the 16 years I have been conversing and praying with patients and staff, I have taken breaks to ask God if this is where He still wanted me.  It is easy to get into a routine or lifestyle and do things rotely.  I find my confidence fails over time and need to ask God anew for direction. For without anointing, we are just a glove without a hand.
Yesterday, after having lunch with the head Chaplain, I went to the nurses station where an RN grabbed me to ask if I ever have dreams of my daughter. You see, my 36 year old daughter died 2 years ago and her 36 year old son died last May, both of sudden cardiac arrest.  She began to tell me about her dream, also about how she never believed much in an afterlife before, or God.  We talked for 15 minutes. Before returning to nursing station duties, she gave me a bear hug and asked me to not stay gone so long.  At that moment, I knew the answer I had gone there for. For now, I will resume visiting patients at the hospital and making myself available for whatever God has in store on any given day.  It's funny with Him, you never know what that will be.

Life is short. Live alive.

What a confirmation and an answer you were looking for! Rest assured that God is with you and He wants to continue the work through you there. You never know the impact that you make on a patient when they remain quiet, but they will take what you said and think it over. That’s when you “let go and let God” do the rest. As you surrender and prayerfully go through your day, you are making such a difference even if you don’t see the harvest. And, having someone come up to you to talk to God that day is HUGE! Continue to nurture that conversion and point her to scripture that she can consume. It sounds like she’s developing a spiritual hunger! I’m very sorry for her loss. We know what she’s going through. God’s going to use our family’s loss and experiences since then again for His Glory! He’s so, so good! And He truly trades JOY for mourning.
