COMMUNITY CARE MINISTRY
At Cold Springs Church we value "Compassion with Action” and through our Community Care Ministry we strive to reflect and share the love of Christ and the Word of God to everyone we serve. Our vision for this ministry is to be a spiritual and physical resource to the the homeless and hungry within El Dorado County and beyond. We provide meals and shelter for homeless men, women, and children, as well as emergency aid for struggling families in both our church family and our community.
Our Community Care ministry provides meals for the homeless at specific locations in our community, shelter for the homeless during the winter months on our campus, and aid for struggling families in our community.

NOMADIC HOMELESS SHELTER
The Nomadic Shelter is a nightly, temporary, emergency shelter for those in need of a warm, dry place to stay and connect with people. The shelter runs seven night a week from November to March, keeping people off the streets at night during the coldest months of the year. Our vision for this ministry is to be a spiritual and physical resource to the homeless and hungry within El Dorado County and beyond. We provide meals and shelter for homeless men, women, and children.
This can be one of the more challenging ministries but we are very committed to creating the safest environment we can for everyone.
Main Contact: David Sarmago (530) 701-2445 or davidsarmago@coldspringschurch.net

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
SUPPORT
The Nomadic Shelter program currently transports guests, by vans from the check-in location to the host site. your generous financial support helps provide gas, repairs and other transportation costs. Food provision is another area you can help. By donating beverages, snacks and breakfast food, you can help the host site to provide nourishment to its guests. "For me, it felt safe, like home, being with family and volunteers who show they really care and love us unconditionally." - Shelter Guest |
VOLUNTEER
If you'd like to get a better feel for what the program is all about, we have plenty of volunteer opportunities at the various host sites! Each site needs at least two volunteers for overnight (either all night or in shifts). Volunteers help provide food and connections for those in need. "Being a shelter volunteer has been the most meaningful experience of my Christian walk with God." - Shelter Volunteer |
HOST
We are always looking for other churches to join us with the Nomadic Shelter program. Churches can become a host facility weekly, monthly or occasionally, by providing the space for about 35 guests to sleep. host churches provide snacks and coffee. Guests are transported to host church sites by approximately 6:30pm. Guests then spend the night and are picked up around 8:00am the following morning. |
